In Tyler Perry's Finding Joy, one must follow arguably the most annoying and immature protagonist, whose delusions will leave viewers baffled from the moment the film begins. It's quite clear that Joy's professional and personal life is quite disastrous, but finding ways to justify it when the situation is so obvious must be a delusion of another level. There's a moment early on where we learn that Joy had no idea her crush's girlfriend, now fiancée, even existed and thought he was going to propose to her. It's almost as if she completely ignores warning signs and has no survival instinct whatsoever. Tyler Perry's content is unpredictable, mostly disappointing, and this film, with the upcoming holiday season, is quite disappointing if you're looking for a fun Christmas movie.
