Tarek works as a computer scientist in an office. Due to the many overtime hours, his relationship with his wife has cooled. When a handsome intern starts and develops feelings for her, he decides to enroll in a resort where they will secretly bond, or so they promise. But once there, mysterious things begin to happen. Several Aussies lent their not inconsiderable talents to The Matchmaker, but you wonder if it was worth it. This rather unbelievable romantic comedy stars Janeane Garofalo as Marcy Tizard, an assistant to a vapid American politician, Jay .O. Sanders, who is running for re-election and who needs the Irish vote in his Massachusetts constituency. So he sends Marcy, without any hotel reservations by the way, to the Irish town of Ballinagra, where his family apparently hails from.
