 Originally sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee, Gypsy Blanchard claimed she was a victim of her mother's abuse. She alleged that Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, inventing diseases such as leukemia, asthma, and muscular dystrophy for Gypsy. During Blanchard's trial, she and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, were convicted of conspiring to murder Dee Dee. Godejohn stabbed and killed her in her home, leading to her conviction for first-degree murder and life in prison. Blanchard, now 32, was recently released on parole.
