Mikhail Red's latest supernatural horror film, Lilim, revolves around a brother and sister who ended up in an orphanage hidden in the woods during martial law in the Philippines. One day, Issa murdered her abusive father, and her brother, Tomas, was the only witness. He wasn't old enough to fully understand the torture his sister was subjected to daily, and he wondered if death was really the only solution. Issa and Tomas left the apartment before the police arrived. Issa decided to drive to the woods and seek refuge there. She remembered her mother telling them stories from her past, where she used to play hide-and-seek, and before she died, she had told Issa that she had always wanted to run away with her children and find a place to live in the woods.
