Taj: Divided by Blood is a British television drama series that first aired on BBC One in 2021. The series, created by Peter Bowker, explores the historical events that led to the partition of India in 1947 and the violent aftermath which followed. The six-episode series follows the lives of three families from different backgrounds as they struggle to survive in the wake of political turmoil. The series is set in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, which was at the epicenter of the violence that erupted after partition. The main characters are all connected to the Taj Mahal hotel, a symbol of luxury and sophistication in the city. The first family we meet are the Sethis, who own the hotel and are Hindus.
