 In 2012 Italian race car Alex Schwazer was on top of the world. He had just won a gold medal in the 50km race at the London Olympics, setting a new Olympic record in the process. He was hailed as a hero in his home country and his future in the sport looked bright. But just a few months later, Schwazer's world came crashing down. He tested positive for EPO, a banned performance-enhancing drug, and was suspended from competition. He admitted to using the drug, but claimed that he had done it on his own behalf and without the knowledge of his coaches or teammates.
