Parenting is overrated. From mythology to film, everything has portrayed parenthood as a monumental task humans undertake to contribute to the progress of civilization. But the truth is, with each passing decade, parents burden this planet with their apathy. Almost everyone likes to say they love their children and are willing to do anything to protect them. But, for some reason, when a parent has to become a little anti-establishment so their child has breathable air, clean water, and affordable housing, their love practically vanishes.  I'm not referring to those who don't have the luxury of choosing which battles to fight; they're already in the trenches. I'm referring to those who have the privilege and the resources to pressure authorities to make this world a sustainable place for their children and their children's children, and yet prefer to turn a blind eye to all the atrocities happening around them because they haven't yet reached their doorstep.
