If you happened to watch Dexter: Original Sin, you already know that Dexter Morgan didn't die from the fatal bullet. Lying in the hospital, struggling with life and death, his whole life flashed before his eyes. He recalled his time as a teenager trying to learn the "code of murder" developed by his adoptive father, Harry Morgan. The final season, Dexter: Resurrection, took place about ten weeks after his son, Harrison Morgan, tried to kill him in the woods. Ironically, a harsh winter saved the life of a cold-blooded killer.  Dexter was taken down in freezing temperatures, where the cold and snow slowed his heart rate and put him into what you might call "ice sleep."
