Cash Queens revolves around a group of women who are completely broke due to general economic hardship. While Sofia (Naidra Ayadi) has serious mold problems in her kitchen that could lead to her children being taken away (though surely the landlord should be fixing that), Rosa (Rebecca Marder, from The Round-Up) takes the cake when it comes to bad luck, as most of her salary goes to paying off her husband's debts while he's in prison.
Since the latter works at a bank, they all hatch a plan to rob it, as it's apparently quite easy if you work there and know that the staff is instructed not to resist and simply hand over the money.

As for the investigation, the police are so incompetent they seem straight out of a Keystone Cops movie, aside from the beatings they periodically administer to suspects.
There's also a scene in the first episode that's reminiscent of A Battle After Another, the film featuring a pregnant woman firing a rifle, while in this one, there's a man in a wheelchair with no feeling from the waist down.
The original title of Cash Queens, Les Lionnes, translates to The Lionesses, but there's already the Paramount+ series Lioness. That was a good drama. This new production, however, is just a silly farce that might work as a 105-minute absurd comedy, but several hours spread across eight episodes?
