A megatroll is wreaking havoc in Norway. Nora and her team must do something to stop it from causing widespread destruction.
What can you expect when a 15-meter-tall, gigantic troll breaks out of a government facility? Pure destruction, right? Well, that's exactly what Troll 2 is all about. The film picks up where the first one left off. Troll expert Nora and consultant Andreas are now tasked with confronting and controlling this new troll across Norway. However, this creature is no ordinary troll; it's a raging colossus with a voracious appetite and enormous powers.

That said, it's obvious it will unleash its power on the entire city. The problem is, the trio doesn't know how to handle the megatroll, as this time it's much larger and more majestic. Therefore, they turn to ancient Norse scriptures to find any clues they can to stop the troll from causing havoc. But the question is: will they manage to save the people? Will ancient history be of any use to them? Will they succeed? Cinematically, the film has a lot to offer viewers.
It delivers numerous scenes of mass destruction, in addition to the troll itself. That requires a great deal of creativity and diversity, something that is appreciated while watching the film. It makes the overall experience worthwhile. From beginning to end, that experience is not compromised. It effectively showcases the troll causing havoc. And without that, the plot wouldn't be half as interesting as it became.
The only problem is that the plot lacks depth. It's not as interesting as it should have been. Much of the plot became very predictable, which made the experience quite frustrating. It's as if we already knew what we were going to encounter.
As for the performances, yes, they are a plus for a plot that barely made sense. I liked the idea of drawing on ancient lore. However, unfortunately, its execution was very poor. That creates a major problem when sitting down to watch it. Compared to the first film, the second one doesn't have the impact it should. The first film had more mystery, drama, and action. This installment lacks all of that. Even Megatroll's character seems very underdeveloped. Therefore, after a while, it feels like a waste of time.
As for the character development, it also feels very abrupt, especially Nora's. She suddenly becomes an action heroine, something that wasn't necessary, and yet she is. I'd like to know what the creators were thinking when they came up with a plot like this. It simply didn't make sense. And, of course, the film's pacing was very slow. Everything was taking its time at the beginning. That made the film very frustrating. In short, it's watchable.
