Lawyer Maeng Se-na must defend her client, a member of her favorite boy band, in a murder case.
Who says a lawyer can't be a fan? Well, Maeng Se-na is here to prove them wrong. She's a young, intelligent lawyer, known as the "demon lawyer" for taking on difficult cases that others usually avoid. While professionally she's a lawyer not to be trifled with, deep down she's a fangirl. She's a fan of a famous boy band called "Gold Boys." And when we say fan, we mean a true fan. She's scored tickets to their concerts and knows all their songs by heart. And speaking of Gold Boys, how can we not mention the real golden boy of this series, Do Ra-ik, the charming vocalist of the band, whose paths will cross with Maeng Se-na's in the most unusual way?
Stars: Sooyoung Choi, Kim Jae-young, Choi Hee-jin
Most would think this is the typical case of a lawyer and a singer meeting, falling in love, and keeping their romance a secret. But no, that's where the creators surprise us. Do Ra-ik gets involved in a trial for the murder of a bandmate. And to his rescue comes Maeng Se-na. The conflict for Maeng Se-na is evident, as she must defend someone she has admired for so long and, at the same time, uncover the truth behind the murder. For Do Ra-ik, Maeng Se-na is the only ray of hope that can save him from public scrutiny. This undoubtedly has a huge impact on the band, which disbands due to its members' problems. Now the question is: will Maeng Se-na be able to defend Do Ra-ik?
Lately, I've seen an increase in South Korean legal dramas. And each time they present truly shocking and unpredictable plots. While only the first episode has aired, it will be very interesting to see how the plot develops and if there will be romance between the protagonists.
What I've loved so far, and what's already becoming apparent, is the character development. For example, Maeng Se-na, a strong-willed woman, is at heart a huge fan. Her personal life is shown, which contrasts sharply with her professional life. Even in the case of Do Ra-ik, it's fascinating to watch him transform from a popular singer to someone fighting to clear his name after the murder of a bandmate. The writers provide us with many interesting elements, allowing us to judge for ourselves whether Maeng Se-na's decision to defend Do Ra-ik is the right one.
In addition to all this, the cast has done an excellent job. Choi Sooyoung, as Maeng Se-na, plays the role perfectly. She portrays two contrasting personalities: that of a determined young lawyer and that of a fan who must defend her client. Kim Jae-young, as Do Ra-ik, also delivers a great performance, playing a slandered singer who must protect himself and uncover the truth with the help of a lawyer. In short, this is a great drama and definitely worth watching every week. It features incredible characters and a plot full of unexpected twists.
