Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

For those new to Getting Ready and Landing, it's an elite organization tasked with preparing homes around the world for Santa's arrival. The new special follows Christmas elves Lanny and Wayne, whose holiday mission goes awry when Wayne's Gingerbread Man Device self-destructs. Wayne insists to Lanny that they never speak of the incident again, enforcing the "snowball protocol" of silence. Upon returning to the North Pole, Magee informs them that "Big Guy," also known as Santa, wants to speak with them. Wayne becomes convinced he's in serious trouble with Santa and accidentally reveals other mishaps.

Thinking Lanny broke the "snowball protocol" after Santa spoke to them separately, Wayne reveals two separate incidents, hoping Santa is still unaware of the latest setback.

Director: Shane Zalvin
Writers: Kevin Deters, Colleen Evanson, Hilary Helding
Stars: Dave Foley, Derek Richardson, Sarah Chalke

The new special, which retains the animation style fans love, shifts its focus this time. Instead of focusing on one child, our story centers on Wayne, Lanny, and their dynamic. What this new special highlights is that we often take so many things for granted—things we easily overlook, like friendship. The best gifts we receive aren't always material. Friendship is a gift that costs nothing; it simply requires being there for the person you care about. It's okay to let others in.

The magic of Christmas isn't in things. It's in people. In building community together and connecting with one another. What has always made Prep & Landing so special is its relatable nature, and 14 years later, the creative team behind the show hasn't missed a beat.

With the holiday season comes a host of holiday specials for the whole family, including "Prep & Landing: Snowball Protocol." It's about a select group of elves who help millions of homes around the world prepare for the arrival of the big guy.

Dave Foley voices Wayne.

“He’s a guy who struggles a lot to be more bitter than he is. He’s a character who believes he has a right to be bitter, but he’s still happy. You know, he’s drawn to the idea that life is pretty good, no matter how much he tries to avoid it. So I think I like that about him, that he doesn’t quite manage to be cynical,” Foley told On The Red Carpet.

Foley has played Wayne since the series “Prep & Landing” aired in 2009. Also returning are Sarah Chalke as Magee, the Command Center coordinator, and Derek Richardson as Lanny, Wayne’s partner and friend.

New cast members include Dulce Sloan as Janice, a North Pole Post Office employee; Danny Pudi as Chef Geoff, the head chef at the Fruitcake Factory; and Manny Jacinto, who plays Renato, a holistic healer who helps the elves prepare for their missions.

“Doing any kind of animation or voice acting, especially when Disney is involved, is super fun,” Jacinto told On The Red Carpet.

“This episode is different from the previous ones because it’s kind of an anthology,” Foley explained. “It takes the characters to different worlds, different seasons, and they even go on vacation.”

“Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol” airs Thanksgiving night on Disney Channel and the following day on Disney+. It will air Sunday on ABC and will be part of Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas programming.

A Minecraft Movie 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

If you were to throw a bucket in Hollywood today, you could easily find a dozen video game adaptations in development, either as TV series or movies. They're all vying for the same thing: critical acclaim, huge box office revenue, or a sudden surge in streaming subscribers thanks to established fandoms. But it's a long shot: Will they become a "Borderlands" movie flop or a "Last of Us" hit? Next month, Legendary Entertainment, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Microsoft are going for box office gold with a different kind of game-to-movie adaptation: "A Minecraft Movie." Director: Jared Hess Writers: Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener Stars: Jennifer Coolidge, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers For the uninitiated, Microsoft-owned "Minecraft" is a sandbox game that immerses players in the Overworld, a whimsical dimension made up of blocky, box-like voxels. There's no single story or single way to play: users can craft items, build structures, ba...

The Hunting Wives 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

Netflix has become a haven for shows about small towns rocked by crime. Last week, we premiered Untamed, where the residents of a town in Yosemite National Park became embroiled in a murder mystery after a girl fell from El Capitan. The show dealt heavily with grief, suicidal tendencies, abusive men, and the colonialists' negative feelings toward the Indigenous community. The Glass Dome told the story of a criminal psychologist who returned to her hometown to attend her stepmother's funeral and found herself involved in investigating a series of murders seemingly connected to her past.  Hound's Hill centered on a Polish author who returned to his hometown to come to terms with a crime he may have committed, only to discover that a serial killer is on the loose, killing the perpetrators—and his name could be next on the list. So, yes, when I watched The Hunting Wives, I completely understood why Netflix bought the rights to this show. What confuses me is, who is this series ...
