At first glance, and also in reality, American student Amanda Knox, wrongly convicted of the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, spent a long time with her soul crushed in the labyrinthine trap set by the Italian police. So, naturally, one wonders why her lawyers and family were unable to strengthen their case for so long. One also wonders how such a systematic operation to destroy Amanda's image in the public eye could have gone on for so long without even being questioned.

We meet the enigmatic Rudy Guede, or, as he's been called before, the Baron, sometime before Meredith's murder, to better understand him beyond this case. Rudy is the kind of person who would break into a daycare center to take a nap. And when his knife, understandably, terrifies a teacher whose child is right there, he's unfazed by the peculiarity of the situation. It seems he's much more likely to commit a crime than Amanda, Raffaele, or Patrick.
All the fuss surrounding Patrick's alibi and his senseless arrest have set him free. Add to that Rudy Guede's DNA, found everywhere at the scene, and you can understand why the police are in such a hurry to arrest and convict the prime suspect in the murder. A trap is set for Rudy through one of his friends, who, like a good Samaritan, helps the police track down the man who allegedly murdered a little girl. Something about Rudy must have convinced his friend that he was such a quick-witted killer, right? But the problem is that Rudy also sounds strangely honest when he claims that the news they've been spreading about him is completely wrong.
As his real-life counterpart has always maintained, Rudy insists on his innocence, claiming that not only did he not commit the murder, but that he tried to help Meredith. But considering the police found his DNA everywhere, they have no reason to doubt Rudy's role in the horrific crime perpetrated at 7 Via della Pergola that fateful night. That's not all that's interesting and confusing about Rudy's call to his friend, the one where he tells the police he's in Germany. Rudy must have seen the police manhunt for Amanda all over the news. So she feels the need to tell her friend that she wasn't even there that night. But such a statement, coming from a man who is soon arrested, tried, and convicted of the rape and murder of Meredith Kercher, doesn't help Amanda at all. To the prosecution, and to the entire world, she remains "Foxy Knoxy," the perverted young American woman who caused the brutal death of her British roommate.
