Kieran instantly shows remorse and calls Sophie attractive, but Megan thinks the woman is trying to be rude by making sarcastic comments about Kieran. She just commented on his jacket; okay, okay. Kieran apologizes to Sophie about the gift (finally), and they part ways, but then some crazy shit happens with Javen, which we'll get to in a moment because it's crazy. Anyway, they're a lovely couple. I think they'll eventually say yes. They both have things that I find questionable, which I guess makes them perfect for each other.
This Lebanese-Albanian couple seems like they're straight out of a fantasy series. Look at their names; I can picture them perfectly. But fantasy world aside, this couple seems the most natural of all. They start dating slowly, cautiously, before realizing they both want the same thing for the future: children. Honestly, the time they spend talking about kids was too much for me, but hey, what do you do? Jed and Bardha seem to be getting along very well, even in Cyprus, until they have a minor disagreement. Bardha is an immigrant and has been taking care of her family since she was a teenager. This makes her a very independent woman; she's very selfish and doesn't need a "man" to support her. I really like how she says, "I don't need you; I'm here because I want to."
Stars: Freddie Powell, Catherine Richards, Jasmine Johnson
This is something Jed doesn't fully understand at first, because he grew up thinking he would take care of his wife, be her provider and protector. But after meeting each other's families, their bond seems to strengthen, and they begin to really enjoy each other's company. Furthermore, they don't interfere with other couples; they seem sweet and affectionate even in front of everyone, which is great. However, the trailer for the final two episodes has people wondering if they'll end up together. An argument is mentioned, which could imply that Bardha's independent nature has not sat well with Jed.
Kal is half-Pakistani and half-British, and Sarover is Indian, which creates a very interesting combination. These two are also a couple who take it slow; they build vulnerability and an emotional connection in the capsules. But it's only after the proposal and getting to know each other that Kal reveals... that Sarover is not his type at all. Arguably, they've never met, so he wouldn't have known, but he knew from the start that she was Indian, and that her type is blonde, light-skinned, and blue-eyed, so... Anyway, this is something that irritates Sarover because Bardha and Ashleigh are exactly what he wants. I thought it was a rather forced theme because it doesn't seem like she's insecure, and the real issue for Sarover is her family.
When Sarover meets Kal's mother and grandmother, she's very nice, and they're delighted to have her. She also seems like she'll fit right in, but her brother is very skeptical, especially about that kind of thing at first. Also, he's apparently never shown any interest in marriage and used to break up relationships before they got serious, but suddenly he appeared on this show, which is very strange. But Kal does seem to be committed to Sarover, except when he's more committed to Demola, a fellow contestant. Here's the other drama with our latest couple, Katisha and Javen.
I'll tell you the details shortly, but Kal starts having problems with Katisha precisely because he broke Demola's heart at the last minute and she didn't seem to care at all. Kal takes it upon himself to find out what happened, even when Sarover tries to take Katisha's side. They even talk about it in Cyprus, and Katisha simply tells Kal that she got into all this with her emotions and felt she had a better connection with Javen.
The award for the most controversial couple goes to—drumroll please—Katisha and Javen. Now, the drama starts right in the pods when Katisha sweetly connects with Demola, a man who is very expressive with his feelings, very kind, and straightforward. On the other hand, she also likes Javen, a man who seems emotionally unavailable and only cares about being a good catch, to be honest. The thing is, Javen is exactly Katisha's type. He's the man she's broken up with a million times. The worst part is that the man only talks about physical chemistry most of the time in the pods, and gets overly excited when he sees her and stays with her. "We don't sleep much." Yuck, man, grow up! Plus, they don't say "I love you" at all, and even when they live together, they don't seem at all interested.
Megan calls Katisha into her room and tells her everything that happened, and Katisha decides to leave the show immediately. She says she's had enough and won't believe a word she says because she knows she's lying. Javen tries to convince her that Megan is the one in the wrong, but Katisha doesn't care. He leaves a note and the ring on a table and walks off (nice!). On the other hand, Javen started acting like he doubted her after talking to Demola, as if he cared about Demola's feelings. Katisha and Demola talked, and that should have been the end of it.
Anyway, in the end, Javen calls Megan and Kieran over to his house and has a heated argument with Megan, making her cry. Kieran calms her down, and Javen says he didn't mean to make her cry and leaves. He basically claims he wasn't with the girls "all night," while Megan focuses on the fact that he was flirting, and that's what matters. Javen then calls the cheapskate guy for comfort, tsk tsk. But yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to the rest of the couples and if any of them end up getting married, because the trailer gives the impression that no one is happy, so is love really blind?
