Mystery novel lovers, brace yourselves. This documentary is perfect for you. If you're a true mystery fan, you'll know who the Son of Sam is. And if not, read on to learn more about him. This documentary begins with the voice of Jack Jones, a prison reporter. He interviewed many murderers, but when he received a letter from David Berkowitz, he knew it was time to break the most sensational story of the time. David was a murderer known for targeting women.
He killed countless women. When Jones interviewed him, we learned a lot about his psyche and why he did what he did. Berkowitz was given up for adoption as a baby and was adopted by a Jewish couple who raised him. He was known for his strong attachment to his adoptive mother, who sadly passed away from breast cancer when he was 14. He continued to live with his father. But that's where we see how things got strange for him. He began targeting women who looked like his mother. After having many superficial and failed relationships, he believed women were always against him and didn't care about their feelings. This was one of the reasons for his growing hatred toward them. Thus, the murders began in 1976.

His first victims were two girls: Donna Lauria and Jody Valente. They were sitting in their cars when David arrived and shot them, killing Donna. These girls were crucial, as Jody, who survived, was able to give a brief glimpse of their appearance. But sadly, Donna's ex-boyfriend, Vinny, whom we also see, becomes a suspect because one can't be so sure about David. In fact, it was established that New York City was becoming dangerous.
David also had a problem with young, unmarried couples, as he didn't want them to have children who would end up like him. So, he began stalking them. This documentary shows representative video footage of his murders. It even includes interviews with the victims' families to show us the seriousness of the problems. For example, we meet Charles, Joanne Lomino's brother. Charles tells us in depth what happened to his sister and its implications. At 18, a very friendly girl, Joanne was paralyzed. She later died of health complications. Surprisingly, most of the women he killed had short, shoulder-length hair. With this, we can learn the story of all his victims. Online TV streaming services.
This documentary is a good choice. In just three episodes, each approximately one hour long, we are told the entire David Berkowitz story. It's chilling and terrifying. We see photos of all the women he killed. Young, beautiful women with hopes and aspirations, all gone because of a man. Obviously, through the interview with Jones, he was trying to improve his image, but that can't happen after what he did.
It's so shocking, with all the representative images, that the documentary is truly frightening. The actual clippings from the period, along with the interviews, only increase the suspense and the information the creators give us about David Berkowitz. Yes, it can be graphic and very disturbing, but that's solely due to the nature of the case. So, if you can't stand blood and murder, I strongly recommend you skip it. However, as mentioned, if this is your genre, this docuseries is one of the best you'll see in terms of investigation and media presentation.
