In this documentary, we follow the heartbreaking tragedy that occurred at rapper Travis Scott's Astroworld Festival in 2021, organized by Live Nation, where 10 people died. The documentary shows the incident from the perspective of concertgoers and other festival organizers, detailing the emotions and despair of those trapped in the crowd.
The documentary highlights the security shortcomings and the organizers' responsibility in the chaos. It's powerful and, told from the victims' perspective, transports you to the heart of the horrific situation. There's plenty of phone footage that will transport you into the claustrophobic situation the attendees found themselves in and make you feel extremely uncomfortable.

Every scene is shocking, and its brief 80-minute running time is a true nightmare. You may be afraid of ghosts and demons, but there's nothing like watching innocent people out for a good time suffocating in the crowd while their favorite artist sings in the background. The images of people falling over each other give me nightmares, and the stories that accompany the video only increase my paranoia about confined spaces.
I also found it interesting that the documentary highlights the atmosphere of Scott's concerts in general: full of high-energy shows that almost always end terribly in one way or another. It provides a lot of context as to why the concert turned out the way it did. Live Nation's role in all of this also can't be ignored, and it makes us question why no one took responsibility for the situation. Sure, Scott was the face of the show, but the organizers should have been the ones to organize a concert without deaths!
Regardless, the documentary raises some very important questions and leaves us with a feeling of sadness and desolation. No one was held accountable for the consequences of the situation, and Live Nation and Travis Scott continued to offer more concerts. The documentary shows all of this concisely and powerfully, interweaving emotions with facts in a fantastic way. The film breaks down the planning lapse very clearly and simply, and you'll never feel lost as it presents truly horrific events.
Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy is a harrowing experience that will move you. It's not every day that you feel true terror from a phone recording, but the documentary nails the execution and leaves you feeling claustrophobic throughout the film.
