At the end of the latest season of "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast), the three techies Moritz, Lenny, and Daniel, who had always wanted to build something of their own, become rich and famous, and make their mark on the universe, finally split up and go their separate ways. [Spoiler alert] After the Brofrost fiasco, Moritz realized that he had always been a narcissist whose actions endangered his friends' lives, and so he decided to fake his death to protect his loved ones from his own shadow.
Meanwhile, Lenny's wife Kira had gotten a new programming job in Silicon Valley, and since Lenny wanted to support his wife's career, he decided to leave BonusLife and move to California. Last but not least, Daniel, or Dan, learned his lesson and started working on building his startup with his new partner Ersan, who now had a 51% stake in the company, although he didn't mind letting Dan be the boss and face of the company. Ersan just wanted to be a part of something; that's what made him happy. So, yes, the ending was a happy one for all the key characters, but if you want to know how the story concluded, follow me for a detailed analysis of the season four finale.

As soon as Moritz was released from prison for his involvement in the illegal "MyDrug" app, he decided to avoid getting into trouble and start a legitimate business, although things didn't go as planned, and he got into another mess. He wanted to buy 49% of BonusLife shares from Lenny and Dan, and to do so, he needed a large sum of money, which his fellow inmate, Ersan, obtained from a highly suspicious Turkish businessman named Behzat Aygun, who was selling drugs under the guise of his frozen food company, Brofrost.
After Moritz designed an encrypted messaging app for Behzat, preventing the police from reading his messages, Behzat soon realized that Moritz was nothing more than a pathological liar capable of anything to save his life. After kidnapping the three friends, he realized that Lenny and Daniel had always been the "brains" and "face" of the company, respectively, and that he wouldn't need Moritz to keep his servers encrypted. He tried to provoke Lenny into shooting his best friend, but Lenny refused to pull the trigger, making Moritz realize that no matter how difficult the situation was, friends would never abandon their loved ones. This evidently changed Moritz's heart, and he later decided to sacrifice himself so Lenny could escape from Behzat and his thugs. In the middle of the desert, Moritz pulled a gun on Behzat, but he was too afraid to pull the trigger and dropped it. The gun fired a bullet, setting off a chain reaction: the drug dealers shot each other and died instantly.
When the danger finally subsided, Moritz told Ersan that he didn't want to return to his old life, as his presence had only brought trouble to his family and friends. It was his actions that endangered Lisa's life, and she could have died had he not been lucky. So Moritz faked his own death and recorded a video message for Lenny and Dan so his loved ones could move on with their lives and stop searching for him. Furthermore, faking his death meant the police would no longer be looking for him and that he wouldn't be arrested for developing an encrypted app for a drug dealer. His death erased his past crimes, and his family no longer had to face legal issues.
Moritz's sister, Marie, knew about his plan, and his father, Jens, likely also knew his son wasn't dead, although they knew it was best for him to stay away from the family. At the end of Season 4, while searching for her missing husband, Kira and her friends, Fritzi and Lisa, tried to report the crime to the police, but Superintendent Welter, Behzat's employer from the beginning, failed to file a report. Lisa was about to tell her about the messaging app Moritz had developed for the drug lord when Kira suddenly spotted the encrypted device in Welter's hand, betraying his possible connection to the drug lord. It was then that Kira and her friends devised a plan to extract a confession from the corrupt commissioner so they could report his crimes to the authorities. They used an AI-powered voice modifier to lure Welter to a honey farm, where, with the help of Moritz's former accomplices, they finally extracted a confession from him and handed the evidence to the virtuous agent Amira, who had previously found the body of her colleague Bene in the Brofrost warehouse. She knew that Behzat had murdered Bene, but didn't have enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant against him.
In the final season, Moritz and Ersan visited Wheeler, one of Moritz's contacts, whom they decided to make an investor so that he could buy Lenny and Dan's company and subsequently transfer it to Moritz and Ersan, making them the new owners. But Moritz changed his mind and let Ersan take over the company while Moritz invested in a server farm project that Wheeler had pitched to him in the previous episode. A good friend of Wheeler's was converting an abandoned oil rig into a server farm and was looking for investors. The final sequence of the final season revealed that Moritz had invested his share in the server farm and had moved there to temporarily self-isolate.
It was the same place from which he had recorded the message for his friends and then sent it to his sister, a social media influencer, to deliver to Lenny and Dan. At the end of season four, Moritz realized that the Netflix series wouldn't end until he died, and this was one of the main reasons he faked his death. Just kidding, but not entirely. I mean, things won't end until Moritz is gone, right? And that's what the ending was all about. Moritz is gone, and in his absence, the rest of his friends decide to move on with their lives. Lenny knew that his wife, Kira, had always been a better programmer than him and deserved her fair share of success and recognition, so he decided to move to Silicon Valley, where the couple could have better job opportunities and excel in their respective careers.
Plus, Lenny secretly blamed himself for Moritz's death, knowing it was his best friend who sacrificed his life to save him. He had too many memories tied to the town, and they probably haunted him day and night, which could be another reason to leave Rinseln and finally forget the past and build a new future with his family. Meanwhile, Dan, who had never been a programmer and was just a rich guy who knew how to sell, decided to stay and run the startup with his new partner, Ersan. In the season four finale, he told Lenny that the company was doing quite well now that they'd downsized. The numbers were looking good, and they could finally turn it into a profitable business. Well, Dan was trying to convince Lenny to stay, but he'd already made up his mind. And it seemed like he'd also mended his relationship with his girlfriend, Fritzi, and wouldn't turn to drugs for help when things got tough in the near future.
In the finale of "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast), Lenny received a request from a user, "m2000," on BeReal, a photo-sharing social network like Snapchat and Instagram. The username surprised him because it was his old friend Moritz, who used the username "m1000" to hide his true identity on the MyDrugs app. Everyone in the online community knew him by that username. Therefore, it's likely Moritz sent him the invite request, and the reason he used "2000," as opposed to his previous username, could be because Moritz believed he was a different person now. The number implied that, in his second, or updated, stint, he would be a better person than his previous self. Well, the series ends here, so I don't think Moritz's return will make much of a difference, although it does suggest that Moritz will still be in touch with his best friend, even after he leaves for California, and Lenny will no longer blame himself for his death. However, it remains to be seen whether Lenny will inform the rest of his friends about Moritz's survival or keep it a secret so Moritz can enjoy his working holiday as much as he wants.
