As the mother of a Blippi-obsessed daughter (she runs around the living room yelling "B-L-I-P-P-I!"), I was thrilled to learn that Blippi and his friend Meekah are returning to Netflix with a new series. This time, Blippi brings his signature energy and optimism to an exploration of all things work.
It's called "Blippi's Job Show," and the 10-episode series premieres April 7. It's Blippi's first original series on Netflix. Parents had the opportunity to speak with Blippi exclusively about his new series.
Stars: Clayton Grimm, Cashae Monya, Chelsi Stancil
Blippi says his "Jobs Show" focuses on "fueling kids' curiosity" and the sometimes intimidating world of those important jobs adults have to keep our neighborhoods running smoothly. In the series, Blippi will meet truck drivers, mailmen, pizza makers, astronauts, firefighters, and many more. He says he hopes to help children understand what adults do every day and how their jobs make a difference.
“Every job is an adventure, and I love helping kids imagine everything they can be when they grow up,” Blippi adds.
In one memorable episode, Blippi visits Monster Jam, the monster truck rally. “Seeing those giant wheels and powerful engines up close was awesome!” he exclaims excitedly. In this exclusive clip, Blippi and Meekah learn all about the parts that make up a monster truck.
In another episode, he visits astronauts to learn about their extensive backgrounds in science and engineering and what it's like to live in zero gravity. Here, Blippi and Meekah dress up as astronauts and imagine traveling to the moon.
The job of mail carrier particularly caught Blippi's attention. In fact, he says that if he weren't entertaining kids, he'd love to try delivering the mail.
“Delivering important packages and letters, meeting people in the community, and making sure everyone gets their mail—it sounds like a really fun and rewarding job,” he explains.
Blippi also collaborates with his best friend Meekah, who, he says, brings “energy, curiosity, and excitement” to this new adventure. The show also features two new features: the Blippimobile, which Blippi drives around to meet new people, and his live-action clubhouse.
The Blippi Jobs Show doesn't stray from the typical Blippi content that kids and parents are already familiar with; after all, Blippi teaches kids everything from colors and counting to dinosaurs and making their own ice cream.
But Blippi is especially well-suited to teaching kids about jobs, according to Lizzy Easterday, one of the show's executive producers.
“Blippi is the ultimate guide for kids exploring the world around them: his natural curiosity, boundless energy, and playful way of explaining things make learning feel like an adventure,” he tells Parents. “He has a unique ability to break down complex ideas into fun, easy-to-digest moments. Jobs are a fundamental part of everyday life, and Blippi makes discovering different professions exciting and accessible.”
So, Blippi is arguably one of the best teachers in children's entertainment, but why create a show focused on, well, work? In fact, there's a good reason.
“By showcasing the people behind these jobs and giving kids a front-row seat to what it takes to pursue them, the Blippi Jobs Program helps them see that their dreams are within reach,” Easterday explains. "It's about giving children tangible examples of how different professions work and how they can explore their own interests. We hope to spark children's imaginations and help them think about what excites them most."
