Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, is the kind of film that makes you wonder why, in the beginning, no one objected to the story, the dialogue, the absurdity of the events, and all the other aspects that made it a film worth watching. Not even Salman Khan's stardom or Murugadoss's legacy could save it. The best thing about Sikandar is that it didn't last more than its 2 hours and 15 minutes. So, let's try to understand this Salman Khan film and find out what our protagonist was up to.
Sanjay was the supposed king of Rajkot, but he dedicated his life to the well-being of the people. The people of Rajkot loved him, and it was thanks to the work he had done over the past few years. Sanjay never wanted to get married, and he wouldn't have done so had he not seen Saisri, his wife, in distress. We never learned what was happening in her life, but she was grateful to Sanjay for marrying her. Sanjay never had time for Sai, not because he didn't love her, but because he was always busy with his philanthropic duties. Sanjay's family owned 25% of the country's gold reserves, and after his father's death, the responsibility of running the mine fell on his shoulders.

Besides the family business, Sanjay had a lot of things to do, and he never had time for his wife or himself. He liked helping people, which kept him busy all day. Sanjay was probably aware of this, which is why he never wanted to get married. Sometimes, Sai had to wait days to speak to her husband, and that made her feel a little lonely. When Sai finally got pregnant, she believed having a child would probably change things for her, so she would have something to look forward to. Despite that feeling of loneliness, Sai never doubted her husband's intentions. She knew what she had gotten herself into and didn't care. Sai always looked out for Sanjay, knowing how men could be sometimes. She knew how selfless he was and that he wouldn't flinch from risking his life.
The lives of this royal couple spiraled out of control when Sanjay's manager, without consulting them, sold a large quantity of explosives they used for mining excavations. These explosives were used to orchestrate a terrorist attack in Punjab. Another incident that occurred a few days earlier impacted Sanjay's life. Sanjay was on a plane when he saw a spoiled, rich boy treat a woman disrespectfully. Sanjay taught the boy a lesson, and later, we learned that he was the son of a powerful minister named Rakesh Pradhan. Pradhan attempted to clean up his son's image by claiming that the video of him being forced to apologize to the woman was a fake.
Returning to the explosives incident, some people, outraged by what had happened in Punjab and the humiliation Arjun suffered on the flight, arrived in Rajkot intending to kill Sanjay's manager so that the blame for the attack would fall on him. Sanjay arrived just in time and saved the manager's life. What Sanjay didn't notice in the chaos was that a fragment of the explosive had seriously injured Sai. Sai didn't have a chance to tell Sanjay that she was injured, and later, Sanjay learned from one of his men, Amar, that she was in the hospital. Sai died from her injuries, and ultimately, Sanjay felt guilty about what had happened.
Sanjay learned that Sai had donated her organs—lungs, eyes, and heart—and wanted to know who the recipients were. Sanjay's primary care physician provided him with the information he needed but asked him not to share it with anyone, as he was not allowed to reveal such confidential details. Sanjay personally went to meet the three people, all residents of Bombay. A young man named Kamruddin, who lived in a slum and whose parents had abandoned him when he was very young, received Sai's lungs. Nisha, a teenager, received Sai's heart, and Vaidehi, a housewife, his eyes. Sanjay's sole intention in meeting them was to remove any obstacles so that a part of Sai could live on through them. Symbolically, they all carried a little of Sai within them. Sanjay believed that even though he hadn't been there for Sai when he needed him most, he could repent by taking care of these three people.
During this process, Sanjay had another encounter with Pradhan and his son when he was stuck in a traffic jam due to the minister's demonstration. The police officer saw Sanjay in the traffic jam and informed Pradhan's son, Arjun. At first, Arjun didn't believe him, but when Sanjay's image was projected on the giant screen, he realized he was really there. Arjun decided to take revenge on Sanjay and teach him a lesson. That was his biggest mistake: while chasing Sanjay, Arjun made a mistake and dropped a Molotov cocktail on his own car. The car caught fire and eventually crashed, killing everyone inside. Logically, it wasn't Sanjay's fault that Arjun had died, but the evil politician blamed Sanjay for his loss.
Minister Pradhan decided to chase Sanjay and make him pay for his actions. Sanjay became involved in the lives of the three beneficiaries and decided to resolve their respective problems. A businessman had bought a plot of land in the slum where Kamruddin lived and wanted to start a profitable business there. A man named Virat Bakshi was the middleman who handled everything. Sanjay bought the entire plot and also ensured that the air quality in the area improved. After meeting Vaidehi, Sanjay realized that she wanted to work, but her family, especially her father-in-law, was against it. Sanjay also resolved her issues, and she started her own business where she could spend her time productively. Sanjay made the third beneficiary, who won Sai's heart, realize that the boy she was pursuing was not good for her.
Nisha's parents knew the boy had never loved her and was not a trustworthy person. It took time, but Sanjay made the young woman understand that she shouldn't be so blinded by love that she couldn't see the reality: that her beloved was a toxic man posing as an alpha male. In Sikandar's finale, Sanjay and Minister Pradhan came face to face, and the confrontation didn't end well for the latter. Minister Pradhan did everything he could to make Sanjay's life a living hell. He was willing to go to any lengths to hurt him. Pradhan discovered the identity of the recipients and tried to hunt them down, knowing how much Sanjay cared for them.
The support of the people was Sanjay's strength, not just in Rajkot but also in Mumbai, as people recognized what he had done for slum children and how he had fought against the corrupt system, and thus ensured that no one could harm him. Sanjay made sure Pradhan understood that he wasn't afraid of him and that it could ruin his career if he decided to enter politics. Sanjay didn't kill Pradhan, knowing that a single warning would be more than enough. Pradhan was shocked to feel threatened, probably for the first time, and to top it all off, he was facing someone as invincible as he thought he was. In the end, Sanjay achieved what he set out to do and would likely return to his hometown to continue working for the people. So yes, it was a happy ending for everyone, except for those who had to endure the film.
