Larissa: The Other Side Of Anitta, a feature-length documentary for Netflix, will delve into the life of the talented Brazilian star. The documentary directed by João Wainer and Pedro Cantelmo about the Rio-born singer, songwriter, dancer and actress Anitta premieres this year on Netflix.

“Everyone has seen Anitta, the creature, but Larissa, her creator, remains a secret that only those closest to her can access,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Through the intimate gaze of a former love from her youth, the film reveals the surprising Larissa and follows her journey of self-discovery as she faces physical and emotional challenges that lead her to rethink her priorities in life and her career.”

The documentary was a highlight of a Netflix presentation on its Brazilian films and series. The streaming service also released new footage from Baila, Vini, its documentary about Real Madrid player and soccer superstar Vinicius Jr., who has spoken out against racism in the game.


Netflix also debuted an as-yet-untitled Mexican documentary about the late Mexican singing idol Juan Gabriel. The film is from documentary director Maria Jose Cuevas. The streaming service has worked with the heirs of the legendary recording star and songwriter, giving the filmmakers unprecedented access to archival material.


Other highlights from Netflix’s presentations in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico included details of a new season of Love is Blind Brasil, which will feature contestants over the age of 50, and the fifth and final season of Brazilian series Sintonia. There’s also a Rio-set crime drama, Os Donos do Jogo (Owners Of The Game), with Heitor Dhalia (Criminal Code) as showrunner.


The Netflix Argentina team has announced Atrapados, based on Harlen Coben's novel 'Caught', which premieres on March 26, and the adaptation of the graphic novel El Eternaut, which premieres on April 30.
