La Dolce Villa 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Netflix has announced the global premiere of its latest romantic comedy, La Dolce Villa, which will premiere just in time for Valentine’s Day on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Directed by Mark Waters, the film promises a heartwarming mix of humor, romance, and the irresistible charm of Italy.

Netflix’s La Dolce Villa, first publicly announced in April 2024, is directed by Mark Waters, whose credits include Mean Girls, Vampire Academy, Mr. Popper’s Penguins, and more. This is Waters’ third major film for Netflix, having collaborated with the streaming service on He’s All That, released in August 2021, and Brookes Shileld’s upcoming romantic comedy Mother of the Bride, due out in May 2024.

Director: Mark Waters
Writers: Elizabeth Hackett, Hilary Galanoy
Stars: Scott Foley, Violante Placido, Maia Reficco

The premise is one we can all certainly relate to: idealistic Olivia (Maia Reficco) buys a rundown villa in the Italian countryside for one euro, as part of a plan to revitalize the quaint rural town. Her father, an uptight consultant named Eric (Scott Foley), flies into town to change her mind. However, upon meeting the town’s mayor, Francesca (Violante Placido), it becomes clear that Eric, who we learn used to be a chef (he points to the olive oil drizzled over a caprese salad) may have his own project to tackle. “It’s never too late to revamp your life,” the trailer assures viewers.

The screenplay was written by Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy (A Perfect Pairing, Falling Inn Love). La Dolce Villa is produced by Robyn Snyder, Deborah Evans and Nicola Rosada. Hackett and Galanoy are executive producers. Front Row Films and Dae Light Media are behind the feature film.

La Dolce Villa features an ensemble cast, including Scott Foley (Scandal), Violante Placido (The American), rising star Maia Reficco (Do Revenge) and Giuseppe Futia. The film is written by the screenwriting duo Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy, who also serve as executive producers. Robyn Snyder and Deborah Evans round out the production team as producers, bringing their expertise to this captivating project.

The film’s official synopsis teases a tale of self-discovery and romance: “Successful businessman Eric travels to Italy to stop his dreamy daughter Olivia from restoring a crumbling villa. However, Italy has other plans for him as it fulfills its legendary promise of beauty, magic and romance.” Set against the backdrop of picturesque Italian landscapes, the film explores the power of love and the unexpected twists and turns life throws at it.

Heated Rivalry 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

Letterkenny veteran Jacob Tierney wrote and directed the six-part series about two rising hockey stars who fall passionately in love. Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin entered the NHL in 2005. For more than 20 years, the Canadian star and his Russian counterpart have waged one of the greatest rivalries in the sport. They've won titles, medals, and scoring crowns, and both are still playing (with the same franchises that drafted them), having earned their place among hockey's all-time elite. Creator: Jacob Tierney Stars: Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, Callan Potter That's the underlying premise at the heart of HBO Max and Crave's new six-part romantic drama, Heated Rivalry, based on the book by Rachel Reid and written and directed by Letterkenny veteran Jacob Tierney. Don't expect many direct similarities to Letterkenny, though. Heated Rivalry may have some comedic elements, as relationships between passionate men are often entertaining, but it's a sincere a...

Dhurandhar 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Dhurandhar's story unfolds against the backdrop of significant terrorist attacks in India, focusing particularly on harrowing incidents such as the hijacking of flight IC-814 in Kandahar in 1999, the Parliament attack in 2001, and the devastating 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008. The first half successfully intertwines traumatic real-life events with fiction, creating a thought-provoking plot that encourages audience...

Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

The ending of Kantara: Chapter 1 returns us to the original film, a sequence in which young Shiva wonders what happened to the well that physically existed there many years ago, when the Naga tribe lived in harmony with nature, only to be forced to endure the invasion and destruction of the land they were supposed to protect.  The film is a winding tale of three cultures, two of which seem to drive the story about class and greed similarly to the original film; however, the third element is the Kadapa tribe, a people who seek to appropriate the power of the deities for themselves rather than worship them. At its core, it's a film about unity. It's about bringing people together to merge tradition with contemporary ideology. Kantara: Chapter 1 takes us directly into the heart of the Bangra Kingdom, a prosperous state with trade and all modern amenities, but with a powerful and greedy king.
