Stars: Chia-Yen Ko, Jasper Liu, Jing-Hua Tseng

As relationships are tested and desires clash, the series doesn't shy away from exploring modern dilemmas, from toxic family dynamics to emotional infidelity. With its witty dialogue, captivating performances, and a plot that feels all too real, I Am Married... But! is shaping up to be a must-watch romantic comedy.

The 12-episode series I Am Married... But! premieres Friday, February 14, 2025 on Netflix.

Netflix's realistic romantic comedy I Am Married... But! delves into the realities of marriage beyond the "happily ever after." Lin I-ling has spent three years living with her in-laws, contemplating divorce every week due to her husband Zeng Xue-you's dependence on her mother. Though she dreams of moving out, she finds herself trapped in a cycle: Just when she's ready to leave, she glimpses a charm in her husband that keeps her tied down.

Things take an unexpected turn when I-ling meets a handsome and charming pharmacist, Liu Wen-chieh, on a dating app and suddenly feels the urge to have a baby. This puts her in a tug-of-war between emotional infidelity and family life. Meanwhile, Xue-you, who initially seems helpless and immature, finds himself drawn to a single mother, Chen Hsiao-lu, whose vulnerability awakens his protective instincts.

Director Li Nien-hsiu describes the series as an “awake” romantic drama that skips the honeymoon phase to explore the hidden struggles of marriage. “We skip the honeymoon phase and dive straight into married life to explore whether the princess, upon discovering that her prince is actually a mama’s boy and his castle is essentially a prison, can still find reasons to love him amidst their love-hate relationship,” she shared with Netflix.

Producer Vita Huang adds, “Just as the title suggests, married life is full of ‘buts,’ and the best stories are often found in the twists and turns. Many friends who have seen snippets of the series even suspected that we installed surveillance cameras in their homes. This is a testament to the series’ authentic storytelling.”

With a mix of humor, drama, and relatable everyday moments, I Am Married...But! examines the tensions between love, duty, and personal reinvention, offering a fresh perspective on modern marriage.

They are joined by Chia-Yen Ko, Samantha Ko, Pipi Yao, Sie Yi-lin, and more. Marking her first on-screen pairing with Liu, Alice Ko shared with Netflix, “I-ling appears sharp-tongued and domineering in the relationship, but she is actually very tender inside; she is more honest about the ups and downs of life.”

Returning to the Taiwanese drama after five years, Jasper Liu expresses his excitement, saying, “It’s been a long wait!” He plays Zeng Xue-you, a clumsy and obedient mama’s boy, a role that challenged his perception: “At first, I couldn’t fathom how someone like that could exist. But after several conversations with the director and doing my own research, I began to understand Zeng’s desire for harmony in the home,” he added.

Reflecting on their chemistry, Liu adds, “We got along really well from the start, and by the end, I felt even more comfortable with our on-screen relationship. I was reluctant to finish filming!”

The trailer for I Am Married... But! introduces us to Lin I-ling and Zeng Xue-you, whose initial fairytale romance faces the challenges of married life. I-ling is depicted handling the household chores, visibly frustrated by her husband’s reliance on his mother and his loud snoring.

They're all vying for the same thing: critical acclaim, huge box office revenue, or a sudden surge in streaming subscribers thanks to established fandoms. But it's a long shot: Will they become a "Borderlands" movie flop or a "Last of Us" hit? Next month, Legendary Entertainment, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Microsoft are going for box office gold with a different kind of game-to-movie adaptation: "A Minecraft Movie." Director: Jared Hess Writers: Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener Stars: Jennifer Coolidge, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers For the uninitiated, Microsoft-owned "Minecraft" is a sandbox game that immerses players in the Overworld, a whimsical dimension made up of blocky, box-like voxels. The Hunting Wives 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

Netflix has become a haven for shows about small towns rocked by crime. Last week, we premiered Untamed, where the residents of a town in Yosemite National Park became embroiled in a murder mystery after a girl fell from El Capitan. The show dealt heavily with grief, suicidal tendencies, abusive men, and the colonialists' negative feelings toward the Indigenous community. The Glass Dome told the story of a criminal psychologist who returned to her hometown to attend her stepmother's funeral and found herself involved in investigating a series of murders seemingly connected to her past.  Hound's Hill centered on a Polish author who returned to his hometown to come to terms with a crime he may have committed, only to discover that a serial killer is on the loose, killing the perpetrators—and his name could be next on the list. So, yes, when I watched The Hunting Wives, I completely understood why Netflix bought the rights to this show. What confuses me is, who is this series ...
