Tòkunbò 2024 Movie Review Trailer

Tokunbo is about a man caught between a rock and a hard place.

It makes you wonder: in the face of a desperate situation, will morality hold up or does saving your loved ones take priority? We had a blast watching this movie with friends. It's full of gags and funny moments, and it's the first combative action Nollywood movie we've really enjoyed. Ramsey Nouah's direction was solid and the cinematography was beautiful.

Director: Ramsey Nouah
Writers: Todimu Adegoke, Thecla Uzozie
Stars: Adunni Ade, Tosin Adeyemi, Funlola Aofiyebi

The movie moves along very quickly, so you can almost forgive the dull moments and Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi's overbearing and often baffling character. The cast was refreshing. Gideon gave his heart and soul, Adunni was a delight, and Darasimi was a heartthrob. Even Chidi Mokeme's natural grunge style suited his character, Gaza, perfectly. Overall, it's a movie you watch when you're in the mood for something wholesome.

The film follows a former car smuggler (Tokunbo) who has just three hours to deliver the daughter of a government official to her captor, or else her family will face dire consequences. The plot is straightforward, with the main threads revolving around Nike’s kidnapping, Tokunbo’s son’s health crisis, Shade’s cryptocurrency bill that’s stirring up trouble, and the connection between Raymond and Aziba.

Based on its premise, Tokunbo ticks all the boxes to be a high-stakes crime thriller. The opening scene was quite intriguing. Unfortunately, as soon as the story grabs you, it doesn’t take long to figure out the major twists. Despite a runtime of one hour and fifty-two minutes, the film drags at certain points, possibly due to its predictability and plot holes, a weak script, and poor dialogue.

The plot gave rise to many snags. And we’re left with numerous questions. For example, if Iya Mulika had the balls to kill Gaza, why didn’t she wait until the big fight to do it? She had multiple opportunities to get rid of him after she was sexually assaulted, but she chose to do so to save Tokunbo. What is her true connection to Tokunbo? Why can’t Shade postpone his announcement to save his daughter? What exactly was Raymond up to? Where did the police get a studio photo of Tokunbo dressed in his current clothes? How is Shade comfortable with Tokunbo as her driver, especially after endangering his life multiple times? and so many more.

The Acolyte 2024 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

There are three main types of Star Wars stories. There's the kind where you write whatever you want and call it Star Wars, common in the many novels published in the 1990s. There's the kind where you recycle existing Star Wars stories and make them familiar; this has been the primary way of doing things at Disney. But finally, there are the stories that enthusiastically use Star Wars as a setting to create something new. There have been several novels that fit that profile, as did the first season of Andor, and now, four episodes in, it looks like the new Star Wars series The Acolyte, set a century before the movies, also fits the bill. in that category. . The Acolyte centers on a pair of twins, Osha and Mae (both played by Amandla Stenberg). The girls were raised by an unaffiliated coven of Force users, but despite living outside the Republic, the Jedi, including Carrie-Ann Moss's Indara, stuck their noses into these women's affairs, leading to the disaster.
