Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks 2024 Movie Review Trailer Poster

I’ll start off by saying that I think the SpongeBob show that started in 1999 and is currently still airing with new episodes is a great Nickelodeon animated show, along with the great first movie titled The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), a good and entertaining enough follow-up sequel called The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015), and an entertaining enough third movie titled The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2021); even though it took a while to come out, I was still interested in seeing a Sandy Cheeks spin-off movie released.

The Netflix SpongeBob spin-off movie titled Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie (2024) had good voice acting, good 3D animation, bland live-action performances, random scenes that had little to do with the plot, cringeworthy moments, and the occasional out-of-nowhere song number that felt out of place; The movie had some fun moments and the original voice actors are still great at voicing their characters, but it wasn't as good as the other three movies because of how unfocused it became, and the lackluster villain was just too weird and became a bit hard to watch due to his over-the-top, cringe-worthy acting.

Director: Liza Johnson
Writers: Kaz, Tom Stern, Stephen Hillenburg
Stars: Carolyn Lawrence, Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown

Carolyn Lawrence is still great as Sandy, making her a likable character, along with Spongebob, also voiced excellently by Tom Kenny, both of whom are entertaining to watch even with some of the weird dialogue and things they do; Sandy having a connection to this facility in Texas was a nice setup for the adventure and while there are some moments of expected implausibility, his use of science and knowledge to save Bikini Bottom wasn't bad.

Spongebob gets dragged into this to help Sandy save everyone because he was the only other person left, but he has the occasional funny line and is entertaining to watch, but I wish he had a bit more to do instead of acting like a jerk most of the time; Also, the rest of the characters like Mr. Krabs, Patrick, Squidward, and Plankton are still well voiced by Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, and Mr. Lawrence despite not being in the movie much and having the occasional scene here and there. Lastly, Sandy’s family was entertaining enough to watch with good voice acting from actors Craig Robinson, Johnny Knoxville, and voice actor Grey Griffin; they did get annoying at times, but at least it was to learn more about Sandy’s past with her family and why she went to Bikini Bottom in the first place.

The strange villain named Sue Nahmee played by Wanda Sykes gives an over-the-top performance when this person takes Bikini Bottom over for a weird and stupid plan that she didn’t expect coming in, and the way they show her backstory was very awkward and made me question what I was watching at several points in the movie; I will also say that the live-action performances of the human scientist supporting characters weren’t that great, making them sound wooden.

The 3D animation wasn't bad, and it worked well with the live-action environments, and there were occasional funny moments and lines of dialogue, but there were quite a few random moments in the film that go nowhere and make me question what's going on; additionally, there were very sudden moments of song numbers for this movie that isn't a musical, with these songs either being cut off in the middle or played in full for no reason at all to be in the movie.

The SpongeBob spin-off film titled Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie (2024) had good voice acting, good 3D animation, bland live-action performances, random scenes that had little to do with the plot, cringeworthy moments, and an occasional out-of-nowhere song number that felt out of place; The movie had some fun moments and the original voice actors are still great at voicing their characters, but it just wasn’t as good as the other three movies because of how unfocused it became, so I can understand why some people dislike this movie. While this movie isn’t completely terrible as I was entertained while watching it, I’m not going to tell you to run to Netflix to watch it, because this one isn’t as good as it could have been; it’s not as good as the other three SpongeBob movies, but it was still pretty enjoyable.

A Minecraft Movie 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

If you were to throw a bucket in Hollywood today, you could easily find a dozen video game adaptations in development, either as TV series or movies. They're all vying for the same thing: critical acclaim, huge box office revenue, or a sudden surge in streaming subscribers thanks to established fandoms. But it's a long shot: Will they become a "Borderlands" movie flop or a "Last of Us" hit? Next month, Legendary Entertainment, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Microsoft are going for box office gold with a different kind of game-to-movie adaptation: "A Minecraft Movie." Director: Jared Hess Writers: Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener Stars: Jennifer Coolidge, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers For the uninitiated, Microsoft-owned "Minecraft" is a sandbox game that immerses players in the Overworld, a whimsical dimension made up of blocky, box-like voxels. There's no single story or single way to play: users can craft items, build structures, ba...

On Saturday, Disney premiered its live-action remake of Snow White in Los Angeles. Early reactions after the screening indicate that the film, starring Rachel Zegler as the fairy tale title character and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, is "actually quite successful," according to one viewer, while several praise Zegler, with one critic calling it "impressive" despite the significant online controversy surrounding the title. The Hunting Wives 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

Netflix has become a haven for shows about small towns rocked by crime. Last week, we premiered Untamed, where the residents of a town in Yosemite National Park became embroiled in a murder mystery after a girl fell from El Capitan. The show dealt heavily with grief, suicidal tendencies, abusive men, and the colonialists' negative feelings toward the Indigenous community. The Glass Dome told the story of a criminal psychologist who returned to her hometown to attend her stepmother's funeral and found herself involved in investigating a series of murders seemingly connected to her past.  Hound's Hill centered on a Polish author who returned to his hometown to come to terms with a crime he may have committed, only to discover that a serial killer is on the loose, killing the perpetrators—and his name could be next on the list. So, yes, when I watched The Hunting Wives, I completely understood why Netflix bought the rights to this show. What confuses me is, who is this series ...
