Right after Mad Max: Fury Road, director George Miller was pressured to make a sequel, but the acclaimed filmmaker waited about a decade before deciding to make a prequel. Since Charlize Theron's Furiosa was a fan favorite, Miller decided to tell his backstory. The upcoming film will narrate the story of Furiosa in different stages from the moment she was taken away from her abode and she will go through the story until she reaches Fury Road.
Previously, speaking about changing her character, Miller revealed that he thought about aging Theron up, but ultimately abandoned the idea. “It definitely would have been Charlize [if Furiosa had been filmed before Fury Road]. I started thinking, 'Oh, maybe we could do a rejuvenation.' Then I saw really masterful filmmakers like Ang Lee and Martin Scorsese, making Gemini Man and The Irishman, and I saw that they hadn't been surpassed. “All you would be looking at is, ‘Look how well the technology works?’ It wouldn’t have been convincing.” It makes sense since Taylor-Joy looks perfect as a young Furiosa and fans are eager to see her performance in the upcoming film.
The film is packed with action and big set pieces, as we see glimpses of several characters in previously released footage, Wasteland comes to life in the trailers, giving fans a dose of nostalgia and excitement as they re-enter the familiar world. The film cast Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack, Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus, and John Howard as The People Eater. Rounding out the cast are Lachy Hulme as Immortan Joe, Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic, Charlee Fraser as Mary Jo Bassa, Furiosa's mother, Quaden Bayles, and Daniel Webber as War Boy.
