A peculiar family from Manchester, England, is about to make their entrance on The CW just as the world teeters on the brink of an apocalypse. In the exclusive TV Insider video above, we're introduced to the eccentric Lewises.
“Everyone Else Burns” is a comedy series that revolves around a devoutly religious family convinced that the end of the world is imminent and scheduled to occur within the next decade. At the heart of the Lewis family is David (played by Simon Bird), the patriarch who longs for recognition from the church.
Stars: Simon Bird, Kate O'Flynn, Amy James-Kelly
His long-suffering wife, Fiona (played by Kate O'Flynn), dreams of a life beyond sermons and squash. Her son, Aaron (played by Harry Connor), embodies the ideal young believer, except for his artwork, which shows the rest of the family enduring torment in hell. Anxious 17-year-old Rachel (played by Amy James-Kelly) is on the cusp of a romance that could save her social life but endanger her soul.
The clip provided begins with Rachel sleeping in class. When she is asked about her lack of concentration, she mentions that her father woke her up in the middle of the night for “apocalypse practice.” We are then transported to the scene, where we witness Rachel's father, David, putting on a miner's helmet and passionately exclaiming, "Terror is near!" David seeks guidance from Elder Samson (played by Arsher Ali) on the topic of sex, on Rachel's behalf. Additionally, we glimpse Fiona, drunk, feigning sobriety as she answers the door, and her son Aaron absorbed in a painting depicting her father in the depths of hell. When she asks if that's a hot tub she had imagined his father in, Aaron simply nods: "No."
“Everyone Else Burns” has marked a major comedy launch on the UK's Channel 4, unlike any other since 2018. The show is set to resonate with American audiences' appreciation for British entertainment, especially those who enjoy the witty and intelligent comedies loaded with humorous phrases.
