Ilana (DeVitto) and her Greek boyfriend Mike (Tsimitselis) travel to Santorini for his sister. Alex's (Katerina Konstas) wedding, where all of her relatives immediately welcome her with open arms. When Mike surprises Ilana by asking her to marry him in the same lighthouse where her father proposed to her many years earlier, her well-intentioned and overzealous mother Athena (Sirtis) goes into overdrive, excited to have another daughter.

Ilana gets caught up in the vortex of Athena's attempts to "help," including buying a wedding dress for her soon-to-be daughter-in-law and making a church reservation... even though Ilana and Mike aren't quick to set up a date. date or plan to have a big fat Greek wedding.
