Some exciting news for fans of Hallmark mystery movies today, as Hallmark has announced details about an upcoming movie hitting screens very soon. The film, which opens in June, is called The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango.
Shot entirely on location in Malta, The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango stars Lacy Chabert and Will Kemp. The film follows the story of a detective, who teams up with an actor/dancer to solve a crime.
Director: Stefan Scaini
Writer: Aubrey Day
Stars: Lacey Chabert, Will Kemp, Bettina Paris
The official blurb for the film (via Hallmark) reads: “Constance Bailey (Chabert) is a no-nonsense detective who insists on doing things her way, which usually means doing everything on her own. She gets results, but her inability to support a partner is holding her back in her career.
“When the CEO of global ballroom company Aston International is assassinated at a luxury Malta resort on the eve of a company event, strings are pulled with Interpol to send Detective Bailey to investigate. With the event, a high-end lounge competition between the company's top executives, proceeding as planned, Bailey is sent undercover as Aston's new hire. The only problem? Bailey can't dance.
“To compete convincingly, Bailey reluctantly teams up with the charismatic and free-spirited British dancer and actor Sebastian Moore (Kemp), who poses as her husband. Moore's crime-solving instincts are only as good as his footwork, even if all he knows about detective work comes from watching too much television.
“He soon helps Bailey relax on the floor and in her work. But with a killer still on the loose and a growing list of suspects, if Detective Bailey solves this baffling case, she'll have to learn to trust her partner."
The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango is a co-production between Leif Films, Tetrad Productions Ltd. and Moviehouse Entertainment. Agnes Bristow, Borga Dorter, Colin Azzopardi and Mark Vennis serve as producers, while Leif Bristow, Stephen Hays, Peter Graham, Michael McLaughlin, Danny Webber and the film's stars Chabert and Kemp are on board as executive producers.
The film is directed by Stefan Scaini, from a script by Aubrey Day. The film marks the third time Lacy Chabert and Will Kemp have appeared on-screen together in a Hallmark film, following previous roles in The Christmas Waltz and Love, Romance & Chocolate.
