After making the bad look good in the dark comedy Mukundan Unni Associates, Vineeth Sreenivasan is ready to kick off 2023 with Thankam, which hits screens on January 26.
Thankam's trailer suggested that Vineeth is playing a character with shades of grey. But Vineeth says that her character Kannan in Thankam is more of a victim of his circumstance. He adds that there is a certain kind of unpredictability in the way the story progresses and it will keep the viewer hooked until the very end.

In this interview, Vineeth Sreenivasan talks about Thankam, his filmmaking philosophy, and his upcoming direction.
Thankam's trailer has received a good response. The trailer has been edited in such a way that it immerses you in the world of Thankam but without giving any concrete details about the film's story. What do you think of the response to the trailer?
We are very happy with the response. I think Arafath, Shyam and Dileesh ettan wanted to keep it intriguing for the audience. No details have been revealed in the trailer. The mood of the movie is the same as the trailer.
In Thankam, my character's name is Kannan. Kannan is a victim of circumstance. That's the easiest way to say it. He is a very normal human being, middle class, family values and all. He loves his family very much. This business that he is doing involves a lot of risk. He gets involved in certain circumstances that are totally unexpected and then what happens is the crux of the movie. If I say anything else, I'll spoil the movie.
The characters become more relatable. People have all the shades. They will have to behave differently depending on the situation. They will have to make different decisions. People do not live only with kindness. When people see these characters in movies, they can identify with them. We feel that the characters are like the people around us. The characterization in the cinema has changed to reflect reality.
