Bhuvan Bam's latest web series Taaza Khabar is available and streaming on Disney+ Hotstar starting January 6.
Bhuvan Bam fans have been waiting for this series for a long time, because the social media star has finally gone from his BB Ki Vines avatar to her acting skills in a full series. Will it impress, or will this attempt disappoint? Let's find out.
Bhuvan Bam, who will be seen as Vasant Gawde, says, “Taaza Khabar is a complete performer with elements of action, drama and romance. The show captures the ups and downs of life. This is also my digital debut with Disney+ Hotstar, which is a special feeling in itself and the love I've received for it is unimaginable, especially from my fellow cast members. Everyone on the sets was an expert at their job, but it was a first for me and I'm grateful for all the relationships I nurtured."
In Taaza Khabar, Bhuvan Bam transforms into Vasant aka Vasya, a man who collects money at a pay-and-use toilet. His life is stuck in a rut, with his alcoholic father, a loving mother who is ready to steal for the sake of her son, and his one true love, Madhu, who works as a sex worker. Vasya dreams of getting out of hell, but he has no money. He is a kind-hearted man, who helps and cleans up a woman who has fallen in her sink and is blessed with a miracle. While it seems more doom than blessing, the situation soon takes a U-turn and lady luck seems to have smiled on Vashya and his team, but you'll always get the feeling this won't last!
Bhuvan Bam is earnest in portraying him as the man who is eagerly waiting for his luck to change. However, the show is shallow in the way he portrays the class struggle he wants to show. Bhuvan does his best to portray a man from the slums, with his gait changing from that of a man desperately wanting out of his situation to someone who exudes confidence.
Shriya Pilgaonkar plays Madhu, Vasya's love interest. She tries her best, but she looks too polished for the character she's playing. The other cast members include Deven Bhojani, Nithya Mathur, Prathamesh Parab, and Shilpa Shukla.
