Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves 2023 Movie Review Poster Online

A new trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has been released and offers a better look at Paramount's film adaptation of the tabletop RPG. Directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. Paramount kicked off the film's marketing campaign at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 with the first trailer, but no other trailers have been released in the last six months.

The new Dungeons & Dragons trailer offers plenty of new looks at the live-action adaptation of the role-playing game ahead of the film's March 31, 2023 release date. It reveals new story details about the film and teases of its very comedic tone, making the fantasy story more like Thor: Ragnarok than Game of Thrones.

Directors: John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein
Writers: Michael Gilio, John Francis Daley, Chris McKay
Stars: Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page

After the first trailer highlighted the great action scenes of the film, this new Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves further confirms that the film aims for a very comedic tone. This isn't all that surprising with the Game Night directors helming this adaptation. The comedic tone that makes Honor Among Thieves seem like Paramount's attempt at a Thor: Ragnarok-style hit also aligns with recent statements made by the creative team. They confirmed that they were heavily inspired by the tone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that balances heart, comedy, and action. If previous marketing materials didn't convey this enough, the new Dungeons & Dragons movie trailer does.

In terms of new plot details revealed by the footage, it is confirmed via Chris Pine's Edgin the Bard and Regé-Jean Page's Xenk the Paladin that the Red Wizards of Thay are the main villains of the film. Edgin's group of thieves help the Red Wizards steal a powerful artifact that allows them to create an army of the undead. The Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer shows more of the Red Wizards and their undead army. It also highlights more of the quest that Edgin's group undertakes to try to right their mistake and save the world.

Key elements of Dungeons & Dragons are also introduced throughout the trailer. This includes plenty of new looks at the various dragons that will be included in the movie, as well as a few other Dungeons & Dragons monsters. There is also an increased focus on the magic that various characters will use and new looks at the iconic locations that will be visited. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has all the makings to be a great adaptation of the popular TTRPG, and it will soon become clear if the movie makes the landing.

A Minecraft Movie 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

If you were to throw a bucket in Hollywood today, you could easily find a dozen video game adaptations in development, either as TV series or movies. They're all vying for the same thing: critical acclaim, huge box office revenue, or a sudden surge in streaming subscribers thanks to established fandoms. But it's a long shot: Will they become a "Borderlands" movie flop or a "Last of Us" hit? Next month, Legendary Entertainment, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Microsoft are going for box office gold with a different kind of game-to-movie adaptation: "A Minecraft Movie." Director: Jared Hess Writers: Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, Neil Widener Stars: Jennifer Coolidge, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers For the uninitiated, Microsoft-owned "Minecraft" is a sandbox game that immerses players in the Overworld, a whimsical dimension made up of blocky, box-like voxels. There's no single story or single way to play: users can craft items, build structures, ba...

Straw 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

The prolific creator's latest film is a typically melodramatic, yet powerful and relevant, depiction of the systemic miseries that drive a hapless heroine into a police standoff. Even die-hard fans of the tireless Tyler Perry sometimes wish he'd slow down a bit and focus on quality over quantity. But Netflix's "Straw" possesses a cultural urgency that elevates it above its usual repertoire of melodramatic comedies and dramas, despite its flaws. Starring Taraji P. Henson as a single mother burdened with more crises than one woman can handle in one day—resulting in a "Dog Day Afternoon"-style hostage situation—"Straw" exhibits the usual flaws of its writer-director-producer. Director: Tyler Perry Writer: Tyler Perry Stars: Taraji P. Henson, Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor It's overloaded with plot devices, histrionics, and in-your-face messages, with an overabundance of everything. Yet what breaks the camel's back for this subdued heroine ...
