The sixth episode of Palm Royale finally reveals Evelyn's true personality after a long time, but it also leaves a feeling of sadness. The episode is very entertaining despite some slow moments that felt a bit unnecessary. The series continues to amuse with its childlike humor and feminist touch. Honestly, it's just the kind of show I feel like watching after a long day at work.
Episode 5 gave us two shocking twists: one is that the prince who seduced Robert and abandoned him has returned, and the second is that Maxine has a twin sister (seriously?). Also, the whole Linda subplot is hilarious. This episode shows us Kristen Wiig in a double role, and honestly, she's great with the accent and the dual role; she's simply fantastic. On the other hand, I'm not entirely sure where things will go after that mid-season surprise, with several episodes still to come.

Palm Royale episode 6 begins with Linda telling us about her new adventures. The money arrived just in time, but it also made her realize that it's best if she leaves Che's cousin and moves to another country, because her big revelation is that perhaps she's destined to be a nomad, changing men like clothes at Ceil's store. Now she's headed to Russia, in love with a Russian dancer, and calling herself Olga Richbitchskaya (yes, we noticed).
Meanwhile, back home, Maxine has lost everything she's worked for. Now it seems Virginia has a new task for Maxine: to find out who Pinky works for, because J. Edgar is convinced there are Russian mobsters in Palm Beach. Maxine's club is at the center of this situation with Pinky, so for the moment, she needs to keep doing what she's doing so the mole reveals himself.
But when Maxine gets home, she's surprised to see her reflection sleeping peacefully on the sofa. Robert is also surprised, as he thought it was Maxine, but it turns out to be her twin sister, Mirabelle. Back at the Palm Royale, Evelyn makes sure everyone knows Maxine isn't welcome there. Back home, Maxine meets her sister and learns that she was living with their parents because they could apparently only afford to take care of one of them (ouch!). While Raquel arrives to set up her disco at the Dellacorte, Pinky tells Evelyn he's going to keep a share of the Palm's profits.
Maxine gets a call from Evelyn and talks to her as if she's having a meltdown (Evelyn's words) because Virginia has the house bugged and Maxine wants to share some little secrets with Evelyn. They decide to meet at Ceil's house to try on gloves. At the same time, Dinah is helping Mitzi plan her "Braby" (wedding + baby) party while receiving money and death threats thanks to her little speech at the dance.
Back at the motel, Robert encounters his prince again; this time he wants him to leave with him, but after a passionate kiss, Robert quickly dismisses him, only for Tom to see everything. However, Robert makes a grave mistake: he lets it slip to Reginald that Tom is gay (oh no!). Ironically, he doesn't even realize he's telling a con artist that his boyfriend is the agent who arrested him. Later that night, Tom admits to seeing the kiss, but Robert tells him he'll have his police officer boyfriend "re-arrest" him. Now Tom has to fix the problem.
Meanwhile, in the sauna that afternoon, Pinky threatens Doug because he disappeared without a word. So, as revenge, Pinky demands to be announced as the child's godfather. Maxine meets Evelyn in the locker room to try on gloves and have an important conversation. She tells her about the situation with Pinky, but also asks if she can come back to the club. Now, Evelyn and Maxine think Norma would kill someone in this situation (huh?).
Later that night, Maxine is relaxing with her sister and they're having a little slumber party. Her deepest secret is that she thinks she can't love anyone but Doug (how sweet!). The next day, at the "Braby" party, Mitzi learns that Raquel and Pinky will be her baby's godparents and immediately flies into a rage. But Douglas seems completely indifferent and leaves the event, heading straight to the Dellacorte house. Meanwhile, Evelyn tells her husband that they might be planning to murder someone, and he decides not to get involved. I guess she's fine with that.
Now, Maxine leaves Mirabelle alone at home washing the car so she can go through the tunnels to find Evelyn at the club. Mirabelle is a distraction for Virginia (and what a distraction she is; well done, girl!). Then Douglas interrupts her, immediately commenting that she seems to have done something different with her hair. Douglas tells Mirabelle (whom he mistakes for Maxine) that he wants out of this whole dangerous situation and that he can't believe he left the love of his life because of a Cuban mobster and greed.
Mirabelle says she has a plan, but she can't tell him because they're exes now (still pretending to be Max). She implies that she would gladly get back together with him once she has the money. But Raquel overhears everything. Robert goes to see Tom at the agency and tells him that he really didn't mean to make that mistake, but Tom tells him that they've caught Reginald and that he has to interrogate him, which means he'll either blackmail him or tell the other agents that he's gay. Either way, Tom loses. But before they part ways, Tom gives Robert a file on Mirabelle, who is also a con artist, among other illegal things.
Back at Ceil's house, Maxine tells Evelyn that the way to get to Pinky is through tax evasion (thanks to her conversation with Mirabelle about her parents). To make sure this happens, what they need to do is get Pinky's ledger, and this is easy, because he goes to the sauna at 2 pm, the only time he doesn't have anything on him. At the same time, Raquel reveals herself to be a member of the Russian mafia, I think? She speaks Russian, and she and Mirabelle get into a fight to the death all over the house. By this I mean they fight all over the house.
Finally, Mirabelle wins, leaving Raquel tied up in bed while she escapes through the trapdoor, wearing a yellow dress very similar to the one Maxine was wearing earlier. At the Palm, Evelyn and Maxine send Douglas to distract Pinky while they search for the ledger, but they don't find it because it was never with him. Meanwhile, Pinky tells Douglas that he messed up with Maxine by letting her go. Back home, Robert looks for Maxine and receives a call from Norma, who claims she will get revenge because her house is being turned into a club.
Robert tells Virginia what's happening and even gives her the file on the twin. Meanwhile, Mirabelle shows up at the Palm, and since Evelyn has told them to treat her like a queen (Maxine), they ask if she wants caviar or cake. She says yes to both and starts eating while Douglas appears, surprised to see her so relaxed again. The conversation leads to Mirabelle and Douglas starting a romantic relationship (Douglas still believing she is Maxine). But we don't actually see anything, I guess, because it's supposed to be something she's ashamed of.
Finally, Maxine appears, and Robert has told her that Mirabelle isn't who she thinks she is. But the sisters get along very well, and Mirabelle tells her that a handsome gay con artist told her she had a twin sister and that he wanted her to go see her. He was supposed to give her instructions, but the instructions never came, so Mirabelle decided to meet her sister anyway—who wouldn't? It's a tender moment, and it feels genuine. But then she also tells Maxine that Douglas truly loves her because they ended up sleeping together. Maxine leaves Mirabelle because she needs to think, while Mirabelle says she'll wait by the pool for a longer conversation about all of this. But not before handing Maxine the ledger, which she probably got from Raquel.
In the Palm Royale episode 6 finale, Maxine gives the ledger to Evelyn, and everything seems to be falling into place, but is it? Virginia and Robert know that Maxine needs to be safe because Norma is after her. Robert also fears that Mirabelle might harm her, but Maxine is sure she won't do anything. However, the episode's shocking ending shows Mirabelle shot and wounded, lying face down in the pool with Evelyn standing beside her, while Maxine, Robert, and Virginia watch from behind. Now, either Evelyn shot Mirabelle, mistaking her for Maxine, or Norma did it, but in this situation, it seems clear that Evelyn was responsible, since, of course, she wants everything for herself.
