Wanita Ahli Neraka 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Netflix's Indonesian horror film, Wanita Ahli Neraka, attempts to preach about how religious teachings can be manipulated by con artists to achieve their own ends. Wahab was a businessman and politician. He was deeply religious and desired a pious wife who would also uphold his beliefs. Wahab contacted Abi, the headmistress of a girls' boarding school, to help him find the perfect woman for him. Farah, one of the most obedient girls in school, overheard the conversation between Wahab and Abi.

She asked her teacher, Umi Harum, to convince Abi and allow Wahab to marry her. As someone who always adhered to religious texts, she was convinced that she would be closer to heaven if she got married. Farah wanted to fulfill her duties as a wife, even if it meant continuing her studies later in life. Farah never questioned the restrictions women were subject to; she firmly believed that following the rules would help her find a place in heaven. But not everything went as planned, and her life began to fall apart.

Farah was happily married to Wahab. She loved him and fulfilled her wifely duties perfectly. But soon, strange things began to happen to her. During her husband's campaign, she saw a woman dressed in black with a veil over her demonic face. To her surprise, a woman in the audience began to bleed from her nose, and for a moment, Farah felt as if something sinister was happening. But her husband comforted her; she assumed she had simply made a mistake. But the strange phenomena continued. The woman in black followed Farah wherever she went, and she couldn't understand what the evil spirit wanted from her. She tried to do everything right, but it seemed something was beyond her control.

Farah had vivid dreams in which she saw her husband performing black magic. She could no longer distinguish between reality and her dreams. She had seen herself killing a man and tying up his body. And to her surprise, the next morning she learned that the same man she had seen dead in her dreams had passed away. The man, Mr. Agung, was Wahab's opponent, who might have won had he not died untimely. When Farah attended his funeral, the corpse spoke to her. The dead man looked into her eyes and told her that she had killed him. Farah screamed in fear, and she was taken home to rest. She had told Wahab about the woman in black and her terrifying nightmares, but he didn't seem to listen. He repeatedly asked her not to challenge him, because if she dared, she would end up in hell.

The visions only worsened over time, and Farah became suspicious when her maid, Mbok, forcibly plucked out a hair. She saw Mbok inform Wahab, and it became clear that they were plotting something together. She decided to follow Mbok and was shocked to see his maid performing black magic in a secret underground room. Farah's hair was used in the ritual, and she decided to record a video to send to her best friend, Dina, to ask for help. But Wahab had already discovered that Farah had run away from home, so he took her phone and deleted the videos. He demanded that she obey him and destroyed her phone. Farah was shocked to see Wahab's arrogant side and became extremely frightened. It was clear that the demonic figure had appeared because Wahab had been making offerings to Iblis (Shaitan).

Wahab was desperate to win the election. Although he had some loyal followers, he knew he needed more than good luck to win. He didn't want to get his hands dirty, fearing he wouldn't be able to enter heaven in the afterlife. So he married Farah, a woman who had been taught since childhood to always obey her husband. He wanted Farah to do his bidding, and he used her clipped nails and strands of hair to guide the demon into her body and commit the sins necessary to win the election, such as killing Mr. Agung.

The food he offered to Iblis was then used to feed the cows on his farm. The extracted milk was subsequently distributed among the villagers so they would fall under the evil spirit's influence and vote for Wahab. Wahab's goal was to become extremely powerful and influential, and he was willing to shake Iblis's hand to achieve this. After winning the election, he intended to offer Farah to the demon to gain supernatural powers that would help him rule the world. But it wasn't as easy as he had imagined.

Dina and Umi suspected something was wrong with Farah when she began behaving erratically in public. They were afraid of being too nosy, but of course, they couldn't sleep peacefully without making sure Farah was safe. Umi had sent Dina to Farah's house with food, but Wahab refused to allow her to meet her.

Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

The ending of Kantara: Chapter 1 returns us to the original film, a sequence in which young Shiva wonders what happened to the well that physically existed there many years ago, when the Naga tribe lived in harmony with nature, only to be forced to endure the invasion and destruction of the land they were supposed to protect.  The film is a winding tale of three cultures, two of which seem to drive the story about class and greed similarly to the original film; however, the third element is the Kadapa tribe, a people who seek to appropriate the power of the deities for themselves rather than worship them. At its core, it's a film about unity. It's about bringing people together to merge tradition with contemporary ideology. Kantara: Chapter 1 takes us directly into the heart of the Bangra Kingdom, a prosperous state with trade and all modern amenities, but with a powerful and greedy king.
