A pair of goofy, good-hearted men trying to reform society. Thank God is an upcoming Indian Hindi fantasy comedy film written and directed by Indra Kumar with production by T-Series and Maruti International. The film features Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to be released on October 25, 2022 to coincide with Diwali.
If you were sent to "hell" to be judged for your life, how would you fare? For our toxic Indian man, Ayaan Kapoor (played by Sidharth Malhotra), the verdict doesn't look too good. The Thank God trailer revolves around the trial he will receive at the Yamlok.
The trailer introduces us to Sidharth Malhotra's character as he yells at his wife while he is driving recklessly, giving all viewers an important lesson: don't talk on the phone while driving. An accident sends him to purgatory. In this "in-between" space, he must be judged for all the things he did in his life, good or bad.
Ajay Devgn plays the character of 'Chitragupt'. In Hindu mythology, he is a companion of Yamdoot and keeps track of all the actions of human beings. In the trailer he will also judge Sidharth Malhotra's good and bad deeds on Earth. His "divine" avatar of him, as well as his omnipotent powers, promise viewers an exciting ride.
The fascinating concept is treated with humor reminiscent of Dhamaal or Masti, which is not surprising since those films were also directed by Indra Kumar. The jokes will have you laughing out loud along with the mercurial character that Ajay Devgn is playing!
If you thought you would leave reality TV in the land of the living, think again. Thank God brings the concept of 'The Game of Life' where the recently deceased Ayaan has to play a game to balance his 'paap' and 'punya'.
The trailer also includes music from the popular Sri Lankan song 'Manike Mage Hithe', which went viral last year. It gives the CGI-filled trailer a comforting and catchy background score, which makes us wonder if the song will also appear in the film.
