American Murderer 2022 Movie Review

A new thriller starring Tom Pelphrey, Ryan Phillippe, Idina Menzel and Jacki Weaver. The film is the feature film debut of director and writer Matthew Gentile. Saban Films is planning an October 2022 release. “American Murderer” is based on the true story of Jason Derek Brown, a charismatic con man turned party king who finances his lavish lifestyle through a series of scams When his funds run out and his past catches up with him, he hatches a bold plan, one that lands him on the FBI's top ten fugitives list.

Pelphrey is nominated for an Emmy for his work on "Ozark" and also appeared in "Mank." Phillippe starred in "Cruel Intentions" and "MacGruber." Menzel is the Tony Award-winning star of "Wicked" and co-starred with Adam Sandler in "Uncut Gems." Weaver has been nominated twice for an Oscar for her work on "Animal Kingdom" and "Silver Linings Playbook." Paul Schneider, Shantel VanSanten, Moises Arias and Kevin Corrigan round out the cast.

"Jason Derek Brown has fascinated me since he was a kid, when he was obsessed with the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list," says Gentile. "Although 'American Murderer' has been carefully crafted to fit the crime and thriller genres, at its core, this is a story about family and an examination of the dark side of the American dream. With Saban Films, we have a great partner in bringing this true crime thriller to American audiences.

The film recently had its world premiere in competition at the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, Italy. “American Murderer” is produced by Carissa Buffel and Kevin Matusow of The Traveling Picture Show Company, and Gia Walsh and Kara Baker of GiGi Film. Productivity Media's William G. Santor serves as executive producer along with Andrew Chang-Sang and John Hills. Executive Producers Josh Bezoni, Bruce Cummings, Vince Jolivette, Steven Chester Prince. Kerlin Blaise, Lanee Blaise, with Brian Katz and Thomas Zambeck of Umbrelic Entertainment. The deal was brokered by Steve Break of Saban Films and Mimi Steinbauer of Radiant Films International and Jay Cohen of Gersh on behalf of the filmmakers. Radiant represents international distribution rights.

Saban Films has been active on the acquisition front recently, buying such films as Jason Momoa's "The Last Manhunt"; Ana Lily Amirpour's “Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon,” starring Kate Hudson and Jun Jong-Seo; Shane Dax Taylor's “Best Man,” starring Dolph Lundgren and Luke Wilson; and Brett Donowho's “The Old Way,” starring Nicolas Cage.

Heated Rivalry 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

Letterkenny veteran Jacob Tierney wrote and directed the six-part series about two rising hockey stars who fall passionately in love. Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin entered the NHL in 2005. For more than 20 years, the Canadian star and his Russian counterpart have waged one of the greatest rivalries in the sport. They've won titles, medals, and scoring crowns, and both are still playing (with the same franchises that drafted them), having earned their place among hockey's all-time elite. Creator: Jacob Tierney Stars: Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, Callan Potter That's the underlying premise at the heart of HBO Max and Crave's new six-part romantic drama, Heated Rivalry, based on the book by Rachel Reid and written and directed by Letterkenny veteran Jacob Tierney. Don't expect many direct similarities to Letterkenny, though. Heated Rivalry may have some comedic elements, as relationships between passionate men are often entertaining, but it's a sincere a...

Dhurandhar 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Dhurandhar's story unfolds against the backdrop of significant terrorist attacks in India, focusing particularly on harrowing incidents such as the hijacking of flight IC-814 in Kandahar in 1999, the Parliament attack in 2001, and the devastating 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008. Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

The ending of Kantara: Chapter 1 returns us to the original film, a sequence in which young Shiva wonders what happened to the well that physically existed there many years ago, when the Naga tribe lived in harmony with nature, only to be forced to endure the invasion and destruction of the land they were supposed to protect.  The film is a winding tale of three cultures, two of which seem to drive the story about class and greed similarly to the original film; however, the third element is the Kadapa tribe, a people who seek to appropriate the power of the deities for themselves rather than worship them. At its core, it's a film about unity. It's about bringing people together to merge tradition with contemporary ideology. Kantara: Chapter 1 takes us directly into the heart of the Bangra Kingdom, a prosperous state with trade and all modern amenities, but with a powerful and greedy king. Director: Rishab Shetty Writers: Rishab Shetty, Anirudh Mahesh, Shanil Guru Stars: Rishab ...
