Plankton: The Movie 2025 Movie Review Trailer Poster

Following the relative success of the 2024 film, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Arenita Cheeks Movie, Netflix has come up with another SpongeBob adventure, titled Plankton: The Movie. Much like last time, the 2025 film focuses on a supporting character from the franchise, as the inherently evil microscopic nemesis, Sheldon J. Plankton, makes another attempt at world domination with his loving wife, Karen. But things go horribly wrong when an argument between the pair leads to them splitting up, and Bikini Bottom is once again at risk of being destroyed. Overall, Plankton: The Movie is just as silly and ridiculous as SpongeBob has ever been, and may be a good movie for fans of the beloved franchise.

Plankton: The Movie begins on a normal day in Bikini Bottom, where protagonist SpongeBob takes us on a brief tour of his town, introducing us to his friends and neighbors. The cheerful and happy mood is marred by a different character, who soon takes over the narrative, as it is supposed to be his movie, after all, and it is indeed Sheldon Plankton.

Director: Dave Needham
Writers: Stephen Hillenburg, Kaz, Mr. Lawrence
Stars: Mr. Lawrence, Jill Talley, Tom Kenny

Inside the office of Chum Bucket, one of the city's fast food restaurants, Plankton prepares for another attempt at achieving his lifelong dream. Since his childhood, Plankton has dreamed of world domination, and despite numerous failed attempts, he is once again determined to try a new plan, which also involves his supercomputer wife, Karen. His plan, which is aptly named Operation Success, is quite simple, and involves taking down his rival, fast food restaurateur Mr. Krabs.

Plankton's first step would be to steal the secret formula for the Krabby Patty sandwich, which is the most popular item sold at Mr. Krabs' restaurant, and this would ensure that he could take over the entire business. This takeover of the Krusty Krab restaurant would mean that he would soon take over the town of Bikini Bottom and then rule the entire world. Getting ready to begin the operation, Plankton spies on the Krusty Krab restaurant and sees everyone leaving at the end of the day, which is perfect for him. But since Karen isn't home, he can't begin executing his plan yet, causing him to butt into her meeting with the Gal Pals, which is incredibly awkward for Pearl, Sandy, and Mrs. Puff. Frustrated by her husband's failures, Karen even accidentally tells them that she's prepared her own plan for world domination, because she thinks Plankton is going to fail once again.

Just as Karen guessed, Plankton's Operation Success quickly turns into a failure, as Mr. Krabs was already prepared for him to break into the restaurant. In reaction to this, Karen begins her own evil plan to take over the world, which involves giving the Chum Bucket a snazzy modern makeover, instantly increasing sales. However, the stubborn Plankton refuses to accept her help or her opinions and literally sets the place on fire because it doesn't fit his aesthetic. This action is the final straw for Karen, who had become extremely angry with her husband, and now finally breaks away to carry out her own plan for world domination. Soon, Karen turns into a monstrous supercomputer, who attracts all the metal objects in the city to build herself a gigantic robot, with which she will destroy Bikini Bottom and the entire world.

In Plankton: The Movie, SpongeBob has a new hobby after reading the comic Super Psychiatrist, which also includes a psychiatry kit, and begins to practice with the help of this kit. When Karen begins to destroy the city by destroying all the buildings and establishments, SpongeBob and Plankton team up, and the protagonist decides to help the evil organism, because he sees something good in it. As he begins to talk to the villain, Plankton reveals that he may be able to save the situation by revisiting his past and going back to the time when he and Karen first met. Thus, SpongeBob tries out his psychiatry kit on Plankton, which works wonders, and transports us back many years, appropriately presented in an old-school animation style.

It all started when Sheldon Plankton was born in his family's colony with 12,000 siblings, and he wanted to be an evil tyrant from the start. His family didn't have such evil interests, so Plankton was always ridiculed and picked on by his siblings and even his parents, who didn't identify with his ambitions in life. Regardless of all this discouragement, he decided to pursue an education, just so he could learn new things and eventually rule the world one day, and there came a time when he wanted to leave home for a better life.

The Acolyte 2024 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

There are three main types of Star Wars stories. There's the kind where you write whatever you want and call it Star Wars, common in the many novels published in the 1990s. There's the kind where you recycle existing Star Wars stories and make them familiar; this has been the primary way of doing things at Disney. But finally, there are the stories that enthusiastically use Star Wars as a setting to create something new. There have been several novels that fit that profile, as did the first season of Andor, and now, four episodes in, it looks like the new Star Wars series The Acolyte, set a century before the movies, also fits the bill. in that category. . The Acolyte centers on a pair of twins, Osha and Mae (both played by Amandla Stenberg). The girls were raised by an unaffiliated coven of Force users, but despite living outside the Republic, the Jedi, including Carrie-Ann Moss's Indara, stuck their noses into these women's affairs, leading to the disaster. As a resu...

Zero Day 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

Angela Bassett, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Jesse Plemons, and Lizzy Caplan co-star in a series about politicians trying to find answers after a deadly cyberattack. During a break in the second half of Netflix’s six-part political thriller Zero Day (and there are more breaks than there should be), I began to contemplate how much more efficiently the show’s central crisis could be resolved with the help of Owen Hendricks, the protagonist of Netflix’s The Recruit, or Peter Sutherland, the protagonist of Netflix’s The Night Agent. Creators: Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, Michael Schmidt Stars: Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan The last few Netflix political thrillers have largely become fungible due to the streaming platform’s compact release schedule. The Diplomat is the best of this bunch, so I’ll leave it out of the conversation. The Recruit is a silly show, but it dives into its absurdities with a reckless, fast-paced abandon that I appreciate. The Night Agent takes itsel...

Cassandra 2025 Tv Series Review Trailer Poster

The science fiction genre is a testament to man’s obsession with robots. The idea of creating an entity that would take care of mundane or even complex tasks has always been an exciting prospect, and it’s almost instinctive to imagine advancements in robotics whenever we talk about the future. With Tesla’s Optimus breaking the internet recently, having a home robot may no longer be a far-fetched dream. The German Netflix series Cassandra revolves around a robot that was created to be a house companion in the early 70s but has since been abandoned. When a family moved into the smart home, the system was suddenly activated and soon trouble began. The story of the rogue robot is not a new one; it usually starts with a bug in programming or an advancement in technology that makes robots realize they can defeat humans to take over their world. But Cassandra is not your typical story of a robot going rogue; it’s much more detailed than that. And while dramatically the details and back...
